Volunteering

There are many interesting and fulfilling opportunities for volunteers at the Museum. From working the reception desk and assisting visitors, to helping a scholar or researcher find the historical evidence they are looking for in the archives, volunteers are involved in the real mission of the Allegany County Museum.

Volunteers, depending on the level of commitment, may even be able to sort and catalogue raw historical materials that are donated to the Museum. For the person fascinated with our regional history, which is rich beyond most people's imagination, volunteering at the Allegany County Museum is an experience they will always cherish.

Much of the archival holdings of the Museum are yet to be explored. And, if you click on the "Plans" link in the column to the left, you will see big things are underway or soon to begin at the Museum. Get in on the start of these projects and see them grow into exciting exhibits. You'll be able to say you had a part in the growth and success of the Allegany County Museum as a volunteer.
